MORE INFORMATION:
This heavily built 1931 wood tender was surveyed in 2023 in "Very Good" condition with no exceptions noted. She's powered by a Caterpillar 343A (365 HP, turbocharged, keel cooled), rebuilt in 2018 with 5,438 hours at survey, w/ a Caterpillar 6:1 reduction gear to a 6" stainless tail shaft and Olympia bronze 3-blade prop. Auxiliary is a GMC Detroit 4-71, w/ hydraulic pack driving a Vickers 25/35 pump, plus a 65 kW genset powering RSW.
The tanked main and aft holds carry approximately 100,000 lbs total. They are foam insulated and lined with epoxy-coated steel, and the aft hold was built new in 2015. Refrigeration is an all-new Ocean Systems/Highland R-507 RSW system.
Tankage includes 2,250 gal of fuel in two steel tanks, 350 gal of fresh water, and 120 gal of hydraulic oil.
Electronics include:
• Furuno 1815 (36-mile) and Furuno 1900 radars
• Furuno FMV-603 and LS6100 sounders
• ICOM M502 and Standard Horizon VHFs
• Standard Horizon GPSChart 175s
• ComNav Class B AIS
• Nobeltec navigation on a laptop
• Wagner SE autopilot
• Satellite phone and watch alarm
She has single-station Wagner hydraulic steering. The rigging consists of a 10" steel mast and two 6" steel hydraulic booms with Pullmaster and Rotzeller winches, and all rigging, hydraulic valve bank, and hoses were replaced new in 2010.
The accommodations sleep six in the forecastle, master, and crew staterooms. There's an enclosed marine head, and the galley has a Dickinson Atlantic diesel range, a double sink, and a settee.
During the winter 2014–15 shipyard rebuild:
• About 40 frames were replaced.
• About 30% of the hull was replanked.
• About 70% of the stern timbers were replaced.
• New sponsons and guards were fitted.
• All covering boards were replaced.
• Heavy welded aluminum bulwarks were installed aft.
Upgrades since 2018 include the new R-507 refrigeration, the 65 kW genset, an upgraded main exhaust, and new stainless steel circulation plumbing and condenser pumps.
